Our elder law and estate planning firm is located in Riverside, California. As the County Seat of Riverside County, it holds an important place in our area, and it is a very special city on a number of different levels. Our community is the most populous municipality in the county with more than 300,000 residents, and this places us toward the middle on the list of the 100 most highly populated cities in the United States.
Riverside offers residents an extraordinary quality of life, and it all starts with education. The public secondary schools are well regarded, and there are also a number of fine private high schools. When it is time to start college, local students do not have to leave home to achieve their educational goals. In addition to the University of California at Riverside, California Baptist University, La Sierra University, and Riverside City College are all located in town.
Cultural and recreational opportunities abound in our city. The Riverside Sports Complex sits on the campus of the University of California at Riverside, and locals and visitors alike can enjoy the UCR Botanical Gardens. The Riverside Dickens Festival is anxiously awaited each year, along with the Riverside International Film Festival and the Riverside Air Show and the March Air Field Air Show that that attracts tens of thousands of attendees each year. And what visit to Riverside would be complete without a tour of the Mission Inn and if you are lucky enough to be in town during the Christmas holidays, the world famous Riverside Festival of Lights.
These are just a handful of the countless different things to do within the city limits, and it is only a little over an hour away from the beach, the mountains, the rides and attractions of Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, Sea World and Lego Land, as well as many museums, aquariums and other palces of interest . Clearly, we are fortunate to live in this extraordinary city, but our office is very close to some other Riverside County jewels.
Moreno Valley
The second-largest city in Riverside County is Moreno Valley. It is a very historic piece of land that was first populated over 2000 [? – 200?]years ago, and it is steadily grown throughout the 20th century. In 1984, it was officially incorporated as a city in its own right, and it has been thriving ever since. March Air Reserve Base is one of the centerpieces of Moreno Valley, and we proudly provide veterans benefit planning for active service members and veterans who live in Riverside County while they serve our country.
Corona
We have made a lot of friends that live in Corona, and this is another world class Riverside County community. It is a physically beautiful place, with spectacular views of the Santa Ana Mountains, and Cleveland National Forest beckons as well. The “Circle City” is a city full of important landmarks, including Butterfield Stage Station, the renowned Painted Rock Native American pictograph, and the Serrano Tanning Vats that were first built in 1819. For rock music aficionados and something a little more modern, a visit to the Fender Guitar Museum is a must.
Norco
This city had its name shortened from North Corona to Norco. It is also known as Horse Town USA. Thoughout the city, its quaint streets are lined with horse trails. Some speculate that its population of horses and other farm animals is greater than the population of humans. Many of our estate planning clients who reside in Norco utilize our Pet Trusts to insure their beloved animals are cared for after they are gone. Norco is also the home to the Norconian Resort Supreme, a former hotel/resort very popular with Hollywood movie stars and mogels back in the 1920s and 30s; as well as the Naval Surface Warfare Center. It also happens to be the home of the law firm’s founder, Dennis Sandoval, and his family.
Locals Can Rely on Attorney Dennis M. Sandoval!
Unfortunately, far too many people are remiss when it comes to estate planning, and if you are among them, now is the time for action. Each case is different, so personalized attention is key, and this is exactly what you get when you work with our firm. We get to know you, we put you at ease, and we gain understanding of your wishes along with your family dynamic. At the end of the process, we can help you execute a plan that is ideal for you and the people that you love.
In addition to the matter of asset distributions, our neighbors in Riverside County should prepare themselves for potential long-term care costs. The majority of senior citizens will someday need help with their activities of daily living, and many people will ultimately reside in nursing homes. In our area, the annual charge for a private room in a nursing home can approach six figures, and assisted living facilities are very expensive as well.
Contrary to what many believe, Medicare pays for only a small portion of the costs of long-term care. But Long Term Care Medi-Cal will pick up the tab if you can qualify. Since Medi-Cal is intended for people with very limited resources, there is a low $2000 asset limit. However, with proper planning a person or couple with much greater net worth can qualify for Long Term Care Medi-Cal eligibility. We can help you implement a plan to preserve assets for the spouse who is not in the nursing home and also leave a legacy for the people that you love.
Veterans Aid and Attendance benefits are also available to war time veterans and their spouses. This valuable benefit provides additional income to pay for assisted living or caregivers in the home. However, there are strict income and asset guidelines and many individuals need the assistance of a qualified elder law attorney in order to qualify.
